NET EARNINGS OF SERVICE
Figures published in this week’s Gazette show that net revenue amounting to £340.691 was earned by the railways during the 36 weeks of the current financial" year ended December 9. This compares with an operating loss of £2256 for the corresponding period of the previous year. Revenue for the 36 weeks totalled £6,532,902, an increase of £564,703 on that for the year before, 'The expenditure for the period amounted to £6.192,211, as compared with £5,970,455 for the corresponding period of the previous year. Net revenue for the four*Weekly period ended December 9 amounted to £91,506, as compared with £90,265 for the’corresponding four.weeks of the preceding year. The revenue for the period was £780.143, an increase of £15,637. and the expenditure totalled £688,637, £674,241 for the 1938’ four-weekly period.
