TJRIAN AHERNE plays Louis Hayward’s father in “My Sou, My Son.” Aherne is 37; Loius Hayward is in his late twenties.
“T HAD A COMRADE,” from the pen of Viscount Castlerosse, will now be made in Metro’s studio in Hollywood and not in England, as originally planned. Spencer Tracy and Margaret Sullavan have been pencilled in for top roles.
LJ.ARY COOPER is ready to sign with Producer Arthur Hornblow for the lead in :/Triumph Over Pain,” the story of William T. Green Morton, the American dentist and surgeon, who was the first person to give a public demonstration of ether as an anaesthetic for pain.
TACK BUCHANAN has begun work a on “The Middle Watch.” He has with him, to aid the funning, Leslie Fuller, early stalwart of British comedy films. To do that he has had to abandon his own plans. He has a studio at Hammersmith, where he was planning to feature his company of entertainers, Syd. Walker, Johnny Mills and Jean Gillie. From the wreck of that idea he has saved Jean Gillie to work with him on “The Middle Watch.” Illness halted her career and now she starts again.
