Annual Conference Ends Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N., January 17. The eighth annual conference of the New Zealand Goll Greenkeepers’ Association, which hes been in session since Monday, concluded today. Delegates were welcomed'at the Hokowhitu links by Mr. A. Seifert, chairman of the greens research committee of the New Zealand Golf Association, and among others present were Mr. A. E. Kiely, represejiting the New Zealand Golf Association, and representatives from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, the Department of Agriculture, reserves committees of city councils, as well as greenkeepers from tennis and bowling clubs. During the conference lectures were given by Mr. W. M. Horton, supervisor of plots and advisory officer to the greens research committee; Mr. F. J. Melhuish, on trees suitable for golf courses; Mr. E. A. Madden, agrostologist from the Scientific and Research Department, on grasses, weeds, and their identification, and Mr. 11. G. Holford, inspector of fertilizers of the Agricultural Department, on fertilizers and their use. Papers on practical work on golf courses were also read by visiting delegates.

The membership of the association, it was reported, represents about 90 per cent, of the greenkeepers employed on golf courses. Diplomas are to lie presented to greenkeepers who have qualified by examination,, and others will sit for examination.

The annual tournament for greenkeepers will be held, and a championship cup will be presented f r the lowest net medal round. Officers elected are:—President, Mr. A. Seifert; chairman, Mr. J. R. Galloway; secretary and treasurer. Mr. W. M. Horton: auditor, Mr. K. G. Chamberlain; committee, Messrs. .1. Harvey (Invercargill), T. Easterbrook (Shirley, Christchurch). L. L. Watson (Miramar, Wellington), and F. Hazelden (Akarana, Auckland:).
