GENERAL FREYBERG’S COMMAND

Appointment Gazetted

Two notices appearing in last night’s “Gazette” have, a special bearing on the appointment of Major-General B. C. Freyberg to the command of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

The first notice states that the Gov-ernor-General has been pleased to approve Major-General Freyberg being placed on loan from the British Army to His Majesty’s Government in New Zealand, dated November 21, 1939. The second notice states that the Governor-General has approved MajorGeneral Freyiberg's appointment to the command of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. This notice is dated January 5, 1940.
