PRICE OF PETROL
Minister’s Statement Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, January 11. An indication that there is not likely to be any immediate increase in the price of petrol was given by the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan, in a statement to the Press. . Mr. Sullivan was asked about persistent rumours that it was intended to increase the price from next Monday by 1/- a gallon. The Minister’s statement was: "I can say that I have no knowledge of further expected increases in the price of petrol. I must, however, make it plain that I can give no guarantees whatever that there will not be increases. Petrol is a world commodity, priced on a world basis, and I do not need to say that war will unquestionably influence the world price. But I can only ' repeat that at this moment I have no knowledge of any expected immediate increase.”
