CAPSIZED YACHTS
Auckland Harbour Rescues Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, January 3. In response to a call from defence authorities on North Head who sighted a small yacht in ditiieulties off St. Heliers Bay, the harbour board's pilot launch Waitemala and the New Zealand Coastguard’s patrol boat went to the seelie, The yacht had capsized in a scpmll and its crew of three held on to the boa! till picked up by a private launch. Members of the crew of a I —lt. yacht which capsized in a sudden gust of wind shortly after one o’clock yesterday afternoon were picked up by a boat lowered from a ferry -.learner on the way to Bayswater. The men were taken to Bayswater. Eight Hawke Sea Scouts, who were marooned at Pine Island last, evening when part of Ihe gear of their naval whaler was found Io be defective, were brought to Auckland by the New pealand'Coastguard’s patrol boat. Niue other Sea Scouts, who hail been in camp fora fortnight nt Fine Island, returned safely to Auckland in a second whaler. Scheduled Io arrive al Auckland al 5 o'clock- yesterday afternoon, the marooned scouts were brought back before IO p.m. by the patrol boat which left Auckland til eight o'clock.
