FIFTIETH ROUND VOYAGE
Record Of Mariposa Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, December 22. A milestone in the history of the Matson Line’s service from San Francisco to New Zealand and Australia is being achieved on th.e present, journey of the Mariposa, which arrived at Auckland, south-bound, today. This 23,000-ton liner is now on her 50th round voyage in the trade. On her return to San Francisco she will have covered 750,000 miles on the long Pacific run on this voyage. The Mariposa, is under the command of Captain Hubbenette, formerly commander of Lurline and Matsonia in the company’s Hawaiian service. Captain Hubbenette, who is relieving the Mariposa’s regular master, Captain Meyer, for the round voyage, visited Auckland a year ago as observing captain on the Monterey. The Mariposa first visited Auckland in March, 1932. Its sister ship, the Monterey, started iu the service some time later. The Monterey will leave San Francisco on her 50th round voyage on February 27.
