King Farouk made a gift of £lOOO to a Christmas fund for the entertainment of British and Egyptian troops.
No fewer than 31 marriage licences have been granted during the past lei: days by the registrar of births, deaths, and marriages in Palmerston North. The nmiiber already issued for December is -IS, compared with a total of 33 for tile same month last year.
