The enthusiasm a£ France in the ■prosecution of the wax Ims spread bo its colonial possessions, and a visitor to Tahiti who has returned to Auckland commented on the keen spirit being shown on the island, which already has made a contribution to France’s War effort. A close watch was kept nn 'the waterfront at Papeete, where sailors armed with rifles and bayonets guarded ships’ gangways.
