Campaign In Wellington

One thousand recruits, is the quota required from the Wellington and Hutt Valley area. Steps to organize the campaign to secure this number have already been taken.

In the absence of the mayor, the de-puty-mayor of Wellington, Mr. M. M. F. Luckie, has arranged to issue invitations to the mayors of Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Eastbourne, and Petone, the chairman of the Johnsonville Town Board, and representatives of all organizations—'business, social, and sporting—throughout Wellington and the Hutt Valley, to attend a meeting in the concert chamber at tiie Town Hall, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. This meeting will plan the local campaign.. The organizations to be invited to send representatives to' the meeting include the following: The Wellington Regimental Territorial Association (including the Eastbourne, Kbandallah, Johnsonville, Karori, Lower Hutt, and Upper Hutt Associations), the Fort Dorset Territorial Association, and tiie Scottish Company, Corps of New Zealand Engineers and Corps of Signals Terirtorial Associations, tiie Returned Soldiers’ . Association, the New Zealand Defence League, tiie Wellington Chamber of Commerce, Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, Wellington Commercial Travellers’ Association, New Zealand Founders’ Society, Y.M.C.A., Y.W.C.A., Masonic Grand Lodge, Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, Cricket Association. rowing clubs, golf clubs, Rugby football clubs, > Association football clubs, baseball clubs, yachting clubs, swimming and life-saving clubs, the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, Townswomen’s Guilds, Pioneer Club, Victoria League. Wellington Women's Club, Navy League, St.. John Ambulance Association, Wellington Red Cross Society, Plunket Society, Empire League, United Services Club, Wellesley Club, Trades and Labour Council, ‘ Wellington Racing and Trotting Clubs. Civil Service Association, Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. Wellington Harbour Board, Hutt Valley Power Board, and the Wellington Retailers’ Association.
