Franchot Tone Back In A Star Role
pRANCHOT TONE returns to the screen for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in an original story by Harry Kurnitz, temporarily entitled “Fast and Furious.” He will be co-starred with Ann Sotliern, who has just been placed under a long-term contract, following her outstanding performance in “Maisie.” Busby Berkeley, who has just, completed “Babes in Arms,” will direct this production, the cast to include Virginia Grey, Lee Bowman, Ruth Hussey, Jerome Cowan. Bernard Nedell and. James Burke.’ Frederick Stephan! is producer.
r FHE fascinating characters of Louis X Bromfield’s great novel, “The Rains Came,” are expected to come to life on the screen in Daryl Zanuck’s production of the book, with Myrna Loy, Tyrone Power and George Brent sharing honours in the roles of the amorous Lady Esketh, the handsome Major Safti, and the world-weary Torn Ransome, respectively.
