News And Notes From Town And Country Mastertoil Townswomen. The Masterton branch of the Dominion Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds held its final monthly meeting of the year in the Y.M.G.A, hall. Mrs. W. 11. Judd presided. After the business of the day, the singing circle gave two carols, with violin obbligatos by Mrs. Jarvis. Afternoon tea was served, and during the rest of the afternoon the children of members entertained with recitations, song, dance and music. Those who performed were Myrie Heath, recitation ; ’Wendy Torwick, pianoforte solo and recitation; Margaret Lyttle and Barbara Copp, recitation; Joan Whittaker, dance; Heather Douglas and Joan Douglas, vocal duets; Peter Downes, piano solo; Myrie Minitie, dances: Doreen Dagg, piano solo; Jocelyn Heath, recitation; Margaret Thomson, recitation and song; Heather Robertson, piano solo; Tony Burke, piano solo. .Mr. Judd thanked the children and presented each with a small gift. Dux of Girls’ College. This year the dux of ’Wellington Girls' College and the gold medallist was Carlien Cox. In addition, Carlien won the Marquerite Turner Memorial Prize for modern history, a Mary .McLean scripture knowledge prize, and a prefect’s badge. Final Play Heading. “Indoor Fireworks” was chosen for the final reading of a very successful season, by the Belfrances Players, who presented the play to a large anil interested audience. At the conclusion a savoury supper was served by the members. Those taking part were Misses Diedre Campbell, Jean Rennie. Ngaere Fisher, Gwen Lull', Lois Mair, and Mary MeGaviu, and Messrs. Syd Blank. Gordon Croskery, Hugh Janson and Burnett Bulpin. The audience comprised among others: Mesdames Fisher, Thompson, Nicholas (2). Watkins, Black. Rogers, Scott, find Messrs. Hayward, Brown, Halligan, Thompson, Fisher, Jones, Blank, and Smithson.
