Praise From Mr. Hamilton
LETTER TO MR. SAVAGE
(Regret at his absence from yesterday's opening of the Maori carved meeting-house in the Centennial Exhibition is expressed by the Leader ot the Opposition, Mr. Hamilton, in a letter lie lias sent to the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, in his capacity as Minister of Native Affairs. Mr. Bodkin, M.P. for Central Otago, deputized tor Mr. Hamilton at the opening ceremony. iMr. Hamilton’s letter continues:— "There is no other section of the Exhibition which merits more public attention or interest and, through you. I would like to convey to, those responsible for the whole exhibit my congratulations on their magnificent work. I have had the opportunity of seeing some of the work in preparation, and no praise is too high for the conscientious and painstaking effort that has combined 1 to make this exhibit of an outstanding character—a character worthy of that of the great Maori people for whom I personally have the deepest affection. “I take this opportunity, too, of wishing the Exhibition every success, and I hope to have the chance at an early date of inspecting it more thoroughly than has been my privilege. May I also take this opportunity of expressing to you yourself the hope that you are now regaining your full health and strength. May this Christmas, and New Year season bring health and happiness to you.”
