UNEASINESS AMONG GESTAPO

Sequel To Explosion According to the German "freedom” station, the Munich explosion incident has created considerable uneasiness among the Gestapo, members of which have been accusing each other of complicity, and several have been arrested. The situation is described as similar to that which prevailed at the “blood” purge in June, 1934. A Norwegian newspaper, commenting on the absurdity of the German suggestion that Britain was responsible for the incident, said that if it were correct that British agents had plant-, ed a bomb in this Nazi stronghold Germany could do nothing except sack the political police, which was the largest organization of its kind in the world Reports reaching Amsterdam from Germany indicate that the Munich explosion is being followed by a wave of arrests throughout the country. The incident apparently is being used as an excuse to round up a vast number of Germans who either have property or are thought to be potentially dangerous. The German secret police are carrying out their work in many of the big cities. As a result of the explosion the movements of Herr Hitler will not be disclosed in future. Yesterday, although his flag was flying over the Chancellery at Berlin, Herr Hitler was not there, but was attending the funeral in Munich of the seven victims of the bomb explosion. German newspapers continue to accuse Britain of engineering the deed. They are even exploring history as far back as the reign of Henry IV in order to convince their readers that Britain is accustomed to using murder. —By radio.
