SALARY OF GOVERNOR

Payable In New Zealand

Currency

The persistent rumour that the salary of the governor of the Reserve Bank. Mr. L. Lefeaux, is payable in sterling was contradicted by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, on the third reading of the Reserve Bank Amendment Bill in the House of Representatives on Saturday morning. The Minister said that the salary was paid in New Zealand currency, and that it always had been paid in that currency. It was so paid at the request of Mr. Lefeaux himself, who stated that he was quite willing at all times to accept payment in the’currency associated with the bank of which he was in control.
