ROWING SEASON

Petone Club’s Opening Ceremony

The hope that, in spite of the war, rowers would be able to continue their sporting activities, thereby promoting physical fitness, was expressed by the Minister of Finance. Mr. Nash, on Saturday afternoon, when, as member for the district, he opened the Petone Rowing Club's season. The large gathering of member* nnd friends and representatives of the New Zealand and Wellington Rowing Associations and the other three rowing clubs were entertained at afternoon tea ill the clubhouse. A series of races over a quarter of a mile was held. Results were :— YOUTHS’ FOURS. Petone: W. Jonassen (str.), T. Te I’uni (3). D. McDonald (2), L. Boswell (bowl 1 Wellington: E. McSherrv (str.), J.
