PERSONAL

Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Barnes, Palmerston North, have left, for Australia, where they will meet Mrs. Barnes’s sister, Mrs. T. Jamieson, who has been touring in the East. They will be in Melbourne for Catalogue’s second Melbourne Cup race, and will probably return home in December. Mrs. E. C. Sure, Hamilton, will leave today for Wellington, where she will live in the future.

Miss Thelma Killip, Wairarapn, has returned home after a visit to Ashburton.

Miss Z. Card, Wellington, is visiting her parents in the Wairarapa.

Sister J. Halley has resigned from the staff of the Wellington Public Hospital. Mrs. John Page, who was accompanied to Wellington by her mother. Mrs. P. IT. 8011, Christchurch, will leave shortly for Australia on her way to Hong Kong to rejoin her husband, who is stationed there. Mrs. Page has been the guest of her parents, Colonel and Mrs. Bell, since August. Mrs. AV. A. Bodkin. Alexandra, Central Otago, left 'Wellington last night for the south.

Mrs. W. Byrne, Mount Eden, Auckland, has arrived at Wellington on a four months’ visit.

Miss Peggy Gould, Marton, is visiting 'Wellington. Mrs. C. K. Masters, formerly of Millington, has returned to New Zealand after spending six months in London, and is at present staying with her sister, Miss Jordan, St. John’s Hill, Wanganui, before going on to Auckland, where she intends to reside. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. McKenzie have returned to Dunedin from Wellington. Mrs. W. S. Bean, who has been visiting England, left on her return journey to New Zealand on September 1, and is expected in Christchurch early next month.

Sister V. Armstrong, of the Millington Public Hospital, is returning to New Zealand soon, via the United States, where she will inspect some hospitals. Because of war the Florence Nightingale Scholarship awarded her has been withdrawn as no classes are being held.
