Conditions were most unpleasant for track work in preparation for the opening day of the A.J.C. spring meeting, the "oing practically impossible at Randwick, where Olympus was the only prominent candidate to be worked. He covered half a mile in 53. At Rosebery, where the going was also hea'vy, Beau Vite, with his Derby jockey, AV. Cook, up, beat Royal Chief easily over a mile in 1.50. Wilson ran a mile’in 1.49, easily beating Sydney over the last half-mile in 56. Feminist, who revelled in the going, covered seven furlongs in 1,35. and performed splendidly. Own Folk traversed a mile in 1.49 very impressively. High Caste went freely over five furlongs in 1.5 J. Adios, with his Epsom jockey, A. Reed, up, led Denis at the end of five furlongs in 1.4. Respirator, looking very well, covered six furlongs in 1.194. Tidal Wave, a two-year-old by Tiderace from Aly Own, covered half a mile in 01, a good'effort for a juvenile. He is expected to perform creditably in the Ginicrack Stakes. Aluch-necdetl rain, which began to tall overnight, continued throughout today and caused the postponement of the Rosebery meeting till tomorrow. The rain will greatly benefit the Randwick course for the opening of the Spring carnival on Saturday, and also soften the tracks for the final gallops. (Continued on Page 14.)
