Fair To Fine Generally; Rising Temperatures.
Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 pan. today:— Weather: A. few showers still possible between Cook Strait and East Cape, but otherwise fair to fine generally at first. Cloud increasing, however, m w estland and the far south, with rain developing later. Temperatures cool, but
rising. General situation: The recent depression has moved away eastward, and an anticyclone covers New Zealand. An extensive trough of low pressure is, however, advancing slowly across the Tasman Sea. Forecast:—Winds: Moderate to fresh southerlies from Cook Strait northward, decreasing tomorrow, and later tending northerly. Moderate but gradually freshening north-easterly to northerly winds over the South Island. Seas (N2Z. waters) : Rathpr rough but decreasing in the south Taranaki Bight; elsewhere slight or moderate, but later rising south of Westport. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate and variable winds and slight seas in the northern portion. Moderate but freshening northerly winds and moderate seas in the southern portion.
