COUNCIL’S ANNUAL REPORT

The annual report ot the council of the New Zealand Golf Association states that the total revenue for the yeai amounted to £2294/9/1!, and the expenditure totalled £1728/17/-. The total amount granted to the. greens research committee of the association tor the purposes of its work for the year was £5OO, being a decrease of £BO on the amount contributed last year. Affiliated clubs continue to derive inestimable benefit from the excellent work which the committee, is carrying on in Palmerston North. A number of clubs have written in to the association expressing appreciation of the helpful advice and assistance rendered by the advisory officer, Mr. W. M. Horton. Matches with Australia. The council has been in close contact with the Australian Golf Union with a view to instituting an annual match between a New Zealand team and a team representing the States of. Australia. These negotiations were within sight of being finalized when war was declared, and there is no possibility- of a start being made till the hostilities cease, but it is hoped that everything will lie in order to 'begin this happy interchange of visits when that much hoped for end is reached. The report states that the advisory committees in Auckland. Christchurch, and Dunedin have been of great assistance to the council during the year. CLUB COMPETITIONS Miramar v.
