DUNEDIN, September 26.

A meeting of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce tonight adopted the following resolution, which will bo forwarded to the Government: —“That this council urges the Government to adopt, immediately a system of compulsory military training.”

Other remits to (tic annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, which were discussed at length in committee and passed, were as follows: — “That the Government be urged to take the necessary stops to ensure that sufficient trained men are available, even if this moans conscription.” “That this council urges the Government to institute the compilation of a national register with a view to the utilization of the man-power of the country to, the best advantage toward the successful issue of the war.” “That this council is of the opinion that the monetary system of the country must be retained on a sound basis, and to this end that the war should be waged out of national income, and that the Reserve Bank must have restored to it its proper function.”
