Cloudy And Unsettled, But Improving. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, 'Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today: — * Weather: Cloudy and unsettled over the North Island, with further ram between East Cape and Cape Palliser; conditions gradually improving, however, from the north and west. Fair to fine at first over the South Island, but becoming unsettled in the far south. Temperatures moderate to cool, with a possibility of some frosts. , General situation: A depression centred north of Auckland is moving slowly eastward. Anticyclones centred over Eastern Australia and to the south-east ol New Zealand respectively are losing intensity. , Forecast:—Winds: Moderate to strong south-easterly to southerly over the North Island and north-westerly in the fur south; elsewhere light to fresh northwesterly to northerly. A change to south-westerly probable m the south, however. , . Seas (N.Z. waters) : Rather rough north of Farewell Spit and Castlepoint; elsewhere'slight to moderate, but later rising about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea /Fresh southerly winds and rather rough seas in the northern portion; light to moderate but freshening westerly winds and moderate seas in the southern portion.
