MINE DISASTER AT HUNTLY—A fire which broke out on Sunday morning in the Glen Afton coalmine at Huntly was the cause of the deaths of 11 men who went. down the pit to investigate The fire had resulted in the generation of large quantities of carbon monoxide gas and the loss of lives was due to gas poisoning. The above pictures were taken at the pithead on Sunday evening.
