Fine In The East; Elsewhere Cloudy; Scattered Rain.
Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today : —
Weather: Mainly fair to fine east of the ranges and in the north. Elsewhere cloudy with rain at times in Westland and the far south, and scattered falls possibly extending as far north as the King Country. Temperatures moderate
to mild. General situation: Au extensive anticyclone is situated in the north, while a series of westerly depressions is passing in the south. Forecast ■—Winds: South-westerly at first in North Auckland, and north-easterly on the Canterbury coast; otherwise north-westerly prevailing. Force strong at times about and south of Cook Strait; otherwise light to moderate. Seas (N.Z. waters) : Rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook Strait; slight or moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong westerly winds and rough seas in the southern portion. Moderate variable winds and slight seas in the northern portion.
