Canterbury v. Wellington Rugby Match AULD CUP SOCCER The principal event ou today’s outdoor programme will be the representative Rugbv match between the Canterbury and Wellington fifteens, which will begin at Athletic Park at 3 p.m. A curtain-raiser will be played at l.ov p.m., between junior fifteens representing Manawatu and Wellington. A Wellington B team will play Horowhenua at Otaki this afternoon. The Johnsonville Club will play its annual married v. single match this afternoon. .... A match will be played this afternoon between the A and C Companies of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve at Anderson Park at 3 o'clock. The annual match between the N.I.M.U. Insurance Co. and the Dominion Life Assurance Oilice will be played today on Prince of Wales Park at 3 p.m. League Football. The Wellington Rugby Football League will continue its competitions this afternoon, when the following senior matches wll be played:— Newtown v. St. George, Showground, 2.45 p.m.; Randwick v. Petone, Randwick, 2.45 p.m.; Central v. Miramar, Newtown Park, 2.45 p.m. Association Football. The Wellington Football Association Wiil continue its grade competitions today, when the following first division matches will be decided: — First A Division, 2.45 p.m., Final Auld Memorial Cup: Seatoun v. Waterside, at Basin 1. Championship, 2.45 p.m.: Hospital v. Swifts,, at Hospital. Diamonds v. Petone, at Petone. First B, Victory Cup, 2.45 p.m.: Nada v. Stop Out. at Kelburu. The Auckland and Wellington thirdgrade teams will contest the Herbert Smith Cup at the Basin Reserve at 1.15 p.m. The Marist Club will play a past y. present match at Seatoun Park this afternoon as a wind up to the season. Doms will meet Newtown Gymnasium in the final for the Greathead Cup on Seatoun Park this afternoon. Men’s Hockey. The following representatives matches will be played under the control of the Wellington Hockey Association on Karori Park this afternoon: — Canterbury v. Wellington, No. 1, 3.10 p.m.; Canterbury Primary Schools v. Wellington, No. 1,2 p.m.; Canterbury Second Grade v. Wellington, No. 2, 2.15 p.m.; Canterbury Executive v. Wellington Executive, .No. 7. 2.15 p.m.; Wairarapa Juniors v. Wellington Juniors, No. 8, 2.15 p.m. Twelve reunion matches will also be played on the same ground. Women’s Hockey. The Wellington Women’s Hockey Association will play senior B and junior trial games at Newtown Park this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Hutt Valley and Technical College A will play off for the intermediate championship at Newtown Park at 2 o’clock. Road Cycling. The final road cycling race for the Hope Gibbons Shield will be held today. The Petone, Poneke, and Port Nicholson clubs will have teams competing. The senior race will be over 25 miles, and the junior race over 11 miles-. The races will start from the Petone Esplanade at 2 p.m. BasketballFollowing are the Wellington Basketball Association’s fixtures for today: — Senior B—final: Island Bay O.S. v. Aspro, Mt. Cook No. 1, 1.30; Mr. Bresin. . Third grade—final: Aspro v. Aitkens, Mt. Cook No. 1, 1.50; Mrs. Kennedy. Fourth grade—final: St. Annes v. Island Bay 0.5., Mt. Cook No. 3, 1.30; Mrs. Calder. Fifth grade—final: Abclco v. Aotca, Mt. Cook No. 2, 1.30; Mr. Budden. Harriers. The Wellington Harrier Club will conduct the Vosseler Shield interclub race from Lyall Bay this afternoon. The race, which is one of the major events 01. the harrier season, is a ten-mile teams race, with the first ten runners of eachclub finishing to count. The course leads along the beach from the surf club to Moa Point, then over the hills behindthe golf links to Monorgan Road, then via Ira Street, Devonshire Road, Caledonia Street. Calabar Road, Coutts Street, Queen’s Drive and Freyburg Street. Competition for the individual honours, as well as the teams event, viU be keenly contested.
