Birthday and Engagement Barty.

The coming of age of Bernard Gleeson, only son of Sir. and Mrs. B. P. Gleeson, Palmerston North, was celebrated recently at the Business Girls’ Club. Mrs. Gleeson received the guests wearing a smart black georgette frock and white coat. The evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with novelties, and Mr. Hector Bourke contributed two amusing songs.

During the evening a pleasant surprise was caused by the announcement of the engagement of Nell, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gleeson, to Leslie Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Mitchell, Palmerston North.
