WELLINGTON SALE
f Imported Ayrshire Cattle An auction sale of Ayrshire stud cattle imported from Canada was held by Wright, .Stephenson and Co., Ltd., on behalf of the Canadian Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association at Wellington, on Wednesday, August 23. The cattle, comprising two in-calf heifers and four bulls, arrived in New Zealand some weeks ago and, despite the cold and wintry weather which has since prevailed, they came out of quarantine in good healthy condition, showing off their excellent type to advantage. A large crowd attended the sale and the bidding was spirited.
The first lot offered, the heifer, Thornerot’t Bright Heather sth, was bought: by Mr. F. S- Hutehiugs. Rotorua, for j7sgns., and this purchaser also secured the bull, Macdonald Ambassador, at 17t)gns. The heifer, Thorneroft Bright. Carol 3rd, after spirited bidding, went to .Mr. C. Bailey, Huntly, at ISO gns. .Mr. T. M. Thompson, Waiuku, secured the bull, Annandale .Postal Order, for lSOgns.; the bull, Burnside Perfect Print, was secured by Mr. D A. Bruce, Te Kauwhata, at ISOgns.; and the remaining bull, Glen Elm Buster Boy, was purchased by Mr. W. Hall, of Lepperton, at 145gns. The importation was made with the co-operation of the New Zealand Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association The enterprise of the two associations was commended and appreciation of it by New Zealand Ayrshire breeders was clearly expressed by the .number who attended the sale.
