Late Commercial BROKEN HILL SHARES

Explanation Of Steep Rise By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received August 25. 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, August. 25. An explanation of the steep rise in Broken Hill Proprietary shares today was found in an announcement from Melbourne of a bonus share issue, involving capitalization of £4,459,790, which represents the second largest made in Australia. The announcement was made at the annual meeting and the issue will be iu the proportion of about 64 shares to every 100 held. Shareholders were taken by surprise, the impression being that the company would probably make a new issue of capital in view of its expanding activities.
