THE WELLINGTON STAR Successful Trials Kun The Bine Star Line has received eabl»4 advice that its new motor-ship Wellington Star has run her trials successfully, her average speed being 19.8 knots. Built by Harland and Wolff, Ltd.. Belfast, the Wellington Star's principal dimensions are: Length over-all, 555 ft.: breadth, moulded, 70ft.; depth, moulded to shelter deck, 43ft. 4*in.; gross tonnage, about 11,40 T. She is a twin-screw motor-ship of the shelter-deck type, finely modelled, and with a raked, rounded stem, cruiser stern, single mast, ant) streamlined funnel. Her propelling machinery consists of twin sets of twostroke double-acting Harland B. and W. Diesel engines. The cargo holds are fitted with special insulation for the carriage of perishable goods, including chilled beef, and derricks of the most modern type will be used for handling cargo. Accommodation is provided for 12 passengers in four single-and four double-berth staterooms, with necessary dining- aud card-rooms and lounge. The Wellington Star is to leave Liverpool on October 7, on her maiden voyage, for Auckland,'Napier. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, and is due at Auckland on November 9. THE ARTHUR F. CO RAVIN'. The Vacuum Oil Company’s motor-tanker Arthur F. Corwin, left Sumatra on August 16 for Auckland, Wellington and Lyttelton. She is duo at Auckland on September 5. ■ANTONIO REPORTS. Wireless advice from the British steamer Antonio, eu route from Freeport. Texas, with sulphur, states that she will reach Auckland next Wednesday. REPAIRS TO THE TAAIPA. Repairs to the American Pioneer Line motor-ship Tampa, which has been in Calliope Dock, Auckland, since last Friday, are nearing completion. The Tampa should leave dock tomorrow aud, after trials have been conducted in the harbour, will probably sail in the afternoon, resuming her voyage from Sydney to Norfolk, Virginia. PORT HUNTER LATER. Tile Port Line steamer Port Hunter is now to leave Wanganui next Wednesday for Napier and Auckland to complete her Homeward loading. She is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on September 9 for London, Avonmouth, Cardiff, Liverpool aud Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. KARITANE LEAVES SYDNEY Cabled advice has been received by the Union Copipany that its motor-ship Karitane, from Newcastle, left Sydney on Thursday for Napier and Gisborne. She is due at Napier on August 30. \VAIAIARAMA COMPLETING. From Wanganui the Shaw, Savill motorship AVaimarania is due at Auckland this morning to complete her Homeward loading. She is to leave Auckland, on Monday for Loudon, via Cape Horn. WITHIN AVIRELESS RANGE.
