Mass Executions In Madrid
HENDAYE, August 3.
The arrest of six former Republican militiamen for the murder of Major Gabaldon Irurzun, inspector of the Madrid new Talavera police, brings to a climax reports of widespread political unrest, summary executions, and shooting affrays between Monarchists and Falangists. Republican militiamen are reported to have ambushed Major Irurzun's ear, also killing bls chauffeur. It is stated that mass executions are being carried out daily in Madrid. General Franco is doing his utmost to stifle news of the trouble, but the fact that'Senor Suner, Minister of the Interior, is summoning to Burgos General Tague, xvho was believed to have been arrested, and two other highly placed officials- is believed to foreshadow a Government reshuffle.
