Flip’s Tea Party

J?LIP, the Imre, lived in Mr. Browns cow paddock. He bad three friends, and they were Hop the frog, Lep Hie Imre, and Hardback the beetle Hue sunny spring morning he hopped oul of his burrow tind down Io the pond where Hop lived. There was Hop sitting on a water-lily leaf, and when he saw Flip he hopped on to the bank and came tn meet him. "Hello, Hop." said Flip, “how are you this morning?” "I am very ■ well, thank you." answered Hop. "I just came along to ask if yon would come to my party on Saturday night.” "I should be very pleased to. What time Joes the party start?” "At six o'clock sharp,” Flip told him. "And Hop. Lep and Hardback will be there, too. But 1 must be off now. Good-bye.”

“Good-bye. and thank you for asking me," Hop called, as Flip rati off. The next person Flip called on was Lep. Lep was basking in the suushiim in front of his burrow. •'Good-morning. Flip." tie said as Flip came up. "Good-morning. Lep.” answered Flip. "Isn't it a pleasant morning. 1 wonder if you could come to my party on Saturday night at. six o'clock. "I should be very glad to come," replied Lep. “Hop and Hardback will be there, too. I mlist be off now. Good-bye.” "Good-bye,” called Lep. "I won't forget, and he was just going to call out "Thank you,” but Flip was already out of sight. Hardback was silting beside a brook, gazing up at the sky when Flip found him, but as soon as he saw Flip he called out to him. When Flip had told him all about the party be hurried home to get ready for it. Saturday came, and so did Hop. Lep and Hardback. When they arrived Hop. who had brought his mouthorgan, played while the others listened. Then Flip played while the others sang. Then came tea-time. (Hi. what a delicious tea it was! There were sausage rolls, cream puffs, lemonade, and. best of all. the cake. After lea they washed up. and then Longings, the. grasshopper." played tbe bagpipes while the others danced.
