Jones—Bruce
The wedding took place recently a* the Methodist Church, Lower Hutt, of Kyra, daughter of Mrs. Malcolm Bruce. Nelson, and the late Mr. Bruce, am! Alan Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J_ones, Berriwillock, Victoria. Australia. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. T. Peat. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. Bernard Bruce, wore a gown of figured swiss organdie over white satin, cut on Victorian lines. The bodice was buttoned to the waist with tiny pearl buttons, and the full-flowing skirt was slit, and trimmed with organdie scallops, showing the soft satin beneath. The embroidered veil and orange blossom headdress were lent by a friend of the bride. He r bouquet was of pastel-shaded flowers. Her attendants were her sisters, Misses Alleen and Fro Bruce, who wore frocks of lavender and cyclamen taffeta, made with fitting bodices and full skirts, and trimmed with hearts of tiny lavender and violet flowers. Both wore hearts covered with flowers and tied with violet ribbon, as headdresses, and carried muffs with flower sprays. Brenda Willis was flowergirl, and wore a long frock of aquamarine taffeta with gathered bodice and full skirt trimmed with buttons of the same shade. Mr. McKinnon, Dunedin, was the best man. As the bride was leaving the church a horseshoe was presented to her by Master A. Hosie.
The reception was held at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Mrs. Malcolm Bruce receiving the guests in wine-coloured suit trimmed with velvet, with a hat and muff to tone. When Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Jones left, the latter wore a navy-blue suit with oriental trimmings, a dolly-varden hat, and carried a toning muff.
