Plans For Extension Dominion Special Service HASTINGS, August 4. In an effort to make Hie Hawke's Bay canning industry one of tlie foremost in the .Dominion, Mr. J. Wattie, of Wattie Canneries, Hastings, is contemplating increasing tlie output to double that of last year, extending the factory buildings, installing modern machinery and plant, and introducing a number of new lines. According to an announcement today. Mr. Wattie just returned from Australia, ami as a result of intensive investigations and purchases there, is now in a position to provide Hawke’s Bay with an industry that lias every prospect of developing into one of the most important in the district, and will certainly accord a valuabFe stimulus to fruitgrowers and other primary producers. Tlie development of the scheme is scheduled to begin within the next few months, and in future it is expected Hint the factory and a large staff will be kept in operation all the year.
