Bright Programme Arranged For Ted Morgan’s Benefit

The Wellington Boxing Association, with the enthusiastic assistance of Wellington gymnasiums, has arranged an attractive programme for the benefit tournament, which will be staged in the Town Had Wellington, next Wednesday night, for Ted Morgan. Ted Morgan met with a serious accident some months back. Ted Morgan is the only New Zealander who has won a world boxing title —-he carried off the welterweight championship at tile Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 11)28 He also did well as a professional in New Zealand for some years. An eight-round professional contest will he boxed bv the two Australians, Jackie Sharpe and Norm Dyer, and a special amateur bout over six rounds will be staged by Harold Foote. New Zealand champion, and Alan Byrne, Hutt Valley champion. .Several other attractive amateur bouts will also be included on the programme. Everyone is giving their services free, and it would seem certain that boxers and followers of the pastime will altoiid in numbers on Wednesday night to aid indirectly one who has done so much for the sport
