PROMPT ACTION BY BRIGADE

Fire In Lower Hutt Factory-

prompt action by the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade last nigjlit averted what might have been a serious fire in the factory of Stiles and Deans, Limited, coach and motor-body builders. Railway Avenue, Lower Hutt. The alarm was given at 11.35 p.m. by a passing motorist who saw smoke issuing from the roof of the factory.

An engine from the Lower Hutt Fire Station was quickly on the scene. Tin fire had a good hold of the woodei, portion at the rear of the factory, but was extinguished by midnight. It is believed that the damage done was not extensive, The cause of the outbreak had not been ascertained early this morning. While the brigade wa.s fighting the fire, traffic was diverted along the Western Hutt Road.
