BILLIARDS TITLE

Play In Wellington Championship IM. Corm (Jewish Club) had little difficulty in beating iR. Butters (Commercial Travellers’ Club) when iplay in the Wellington provincial amateur billiards championship was continued in Wellington last night. The score was 300 to 208. Neither player showed true form, and Butters throughout was unlucky with the balls. Corm was particularly strong in his winning hazards. The second game, was between R. Sim (Federal Club) and W. J. McMillan (Fire Brigade Club). Sim, a veteran of the tournament, has a very fine style, and a competent knowledge of the finer points of the game. McMillan .proved a serviceable player, and much more forceful than his opponent. Toward 'the end of the game Sim had established a comfortable lead, and appeared to ibe winning, when McMiUani sprang bis best braak, to follow with an unfinished break of 24, which gave him the game. The score was 300 to 2t7. The best breaks of the night’s play were as follows: —Corm, 20, 21; Butters, 20; McMillan, 25, 20, 32, 39, 24 unfinished; Sim, 22, 30, 27, 21. Lock plays Hayrice at seven o’clock tonight, and at 8 o’clock Bliaokaby meets Franks.
