Memorials To Katherine Mansfield

A memorial plaque to the authoress, Katherine Mansfield, the daughter of the late Sir Harold Beauchamp, was unveiled last month at the Priory of Basses-Loges at Avon (Fontainebleau), where she spent the last year of her life, states a report received from Paris.

The ceremony took place in the presence of M. Bordeaux, of the 1-tench Academy, Dr. Granville-Barker, Director of the British Institute, and Mr. Hugh Sellon, representing the British Ambassador, Mr. Jordan, High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, was also represented. Those attending the ceremony, organized by tdie Amis de la Foret de Fontainebleau, thereupon visited the cemetery at: Avon where Katherine Mansfield lies buried. Then, in the forest of Fontainebleau, M. Viguaud, chairman of the Societe des Gens de Lettros. formally opened the new Katherine Mansfield Footpath, the Katherine Mansfield Rock, and the Katherine Mansfield Crossroads.
