MANOEUVRES AT FOUR POINTS
Wide Developments In Far East Crisis BRITAIN MAY FOLLOW THE AMERICAN MOVE German Trade Pact With Japan ; Military Talks In Rome By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received July 30, 9.15 p.m.) LONDON. July 29. It is officially stated that the possibility of denouncement of the Anglo-Japanese trade treaty of 1911 should not be excluded, though at present there is no desire to prejudice the success of the Tokio negotiations. Tokio reports that a sub-committee of two Britons and two Jttpane.se has been formed to consider the currency and silver question in the Tientsin dispute in order to facilitate the general negotiations. Japan is demanding the forfeiture of Chinese silver bullion valued at over £1,000.000 held by Tientsin banks, and also the exclusion of Chinese currency. The British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie, is e reported to be firm in his attitude to both demands, which is a first indication of British stiffening. Germany and Japan have initialled an economic agreement increasing mutual trade, Berlin reports. The terms are not disclosed. A Japanese mission headed by General Count Terauchi, Inspector-General of Military Education, and Admiral Ostimi is discussing with Signor Mussolini possible Japanese adherence to the Rome-Berlin axis, states a message from Rome. The mission will visit the Nuremburg Congress, after which it will proceed to Berlin for political and military discussions.
