Weight-Lifting Tourney Several weight lifting records were broken at the Webb School of Physical Culture on Thursday night. C. Nelson xs as successful in breaking five amateur middleweight records which were as follows. Left hand military press, lOjlb., right hand clean and jerk, 12351 b.; two hands clean and jerk with d.imi'b-'bells,. roßb., lateral raise, 9211’b.; hold out in front lowered from above. 631 b. Two amateur light-weight records were broken by E. Webb—the one arm curl (right hand) 60|lb-, and the rectangular fix, 931 b. , v Two professional records were estabiished bv the principal of the school, •Kenneth J. Webb, in the lateral raise lift, which were as follows: —Lateral raise standing 6111 b. and lateral raise lying, 9241 b The records were established in conjunction with the monthly improvement contest which is held with the object of improving the strength and development of each competitor over a period of twelve months. Among new lifters competing was L. Probett (brother of Wellington’s feather-weight representative), R. Lciper, and B. Tracy, all of whom acquitted themselves well. E. Probett and J. Nightingall are proving a very good match for each other at every meeting, 'both lifters continuing to show improved form. The youngest competitor in this competition, N. Blair o ave a good account of himself. Detailed results are as follows: —

The record attempts were refereed by Mr K. R. Mitchell, secretary of the New Zealand Association, who was assisted by Messrs. T. Runn, I. J. Mitchell. J. W. Cope and K. W. Dwyer. The con est was refereed by Mr. Kenneth J. Webb with Messrs. K.R. Mitchell and C. Nelson assisting. At the conclusion of the tournament arrangements were discussed for Wellington delegates to attend the annual meeting. this year to take the form of a national fitness conference, to be held in Palmerston North on Saturday.
