Waiotapu-Wairakei Highway
Sir, —May I crave a little space in your valuable paper to call attention to the deplorable and dangerous state of the main highway between Waiotapu and Wairakei? I travelled along this road yesterday, and considering this is the most important tourist road in New Zealand surely it should not be allowed to get into such a disgraceful condition. To give some Idea of the road: In one place (and not the worst) someone has erected red flags at each end of a bad stretch. I trust some abler pen than mine will stress the necessity of getting something done to this road. —I am, etc., J. LAWSON. July 2-1.
