Jockeys In Sydney By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copvrigbt. SYDNEY, July 26. After a keen struggle throughout the season, a dramatic stage has been reached in the contest for the Sydney jockeys’ premiership. Three leading riders, E MeMenamin, M. McCarten. and apprentice W. Lappin, were almost level at the end of yesterday’s Wyong races, at which Lappin rode three winners. . The totals now are: MeMenamin, oo wins and 3 dead heats; McCarten, 83 wins and 2 dead heats; and Lappin, 82 wins and four dead heats. There are two race meetings to be held before tlie end of the season. McMenamin’s is a particularly fine performance, as he was out of the saddle for four months through accident, illness and suspension. manawatu meeting Jockeys’ Engagements . Nominations closed at noon today for officers of the Masterton Racing Club for the ensuing year. All the retiring m-tn-bers were re-elected unoppot-'ed. Only seven of the fourteen stewards retire each year. Following are the nominations: — President, Mr. J. M. James; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. C. J. Bennett and S. J W. Gill; stewards, Messrs. J. A.
