CLAVERLEY MYSTERY

Police And Scientific Inquiry WORK INTENSIFIED By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 26. Detectives engaged on the Claverley mystery now await the report of the pathologist, Dr. A. B. Pearson, whose examination of the body of Mrs. Harriet Jane Patience will determine the cause of death. With identification of the body of the woman who was found at Taratuhi beach, near Claverley, definitely established, police and scientific inquiry work has been intensified. Dr. Pearson started his examination on Monday, but it will be a day or two before he has completed his work and handed over his report to the police. Organs from the body of Mrs. Patience will probably be handed over to the Government Analyst, in an effort to determine whether there were any traces of poison in the body. The pathological and analytical work to be covered may take days. In the meantime elaborate police inquiry work is being carried out. Senior-S.-rgcant J. Bickerdike, who has been in charge of the Claverley mystery inquiries from the time of the disappearance of Mrs. Patience last October, left by car last night for Claverley. He was accompanied by Constable A. H. Brown. The car also carried the Kalkoura district coroner, Mr. W. A. Nelson, who presided at the continuation of the inquest yesterday afternoon. Arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Patience will be held up till the work of the pathologist has been completed.
