FISHING TRAWLERS FOR DEFENCE
Important Purchase By Admiralty (Received July 27, 12.10 a.m.l LONDON. July 26. The naval correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph’’ says that at a cost of £200.000 the Admiralty has purchased 86 modern steam trawlers for use as minesweepers and for other naval purposes. They will be delivered to the Admiralty after their return from the fishing grounds. The effect on the fishing industry will be counter-balanced by lifting the existing restrictions regarding landings at Hull and Grimsby enabling the remaining trawlers to work to full capacity.
