CITY COUNCILLOR TO ATTEND
Hutt Growers’ Meeting At Taita Tonight
It was not a matter for format representations of the council, but if a councillor attended he might get some useful information with a view to the ultimate discussion of provision of housing accommodation in the districts adjacent to Wellington, said the mayor (Mr. Hislop) at last night’s Wellington. City Council meeting, when an invitation was received from the Hutt Valley Producers’ Association to attend a meeting at Taita tonight Io (1) consider the report of the director of the Hutt Valley Development Scheme regarding State housing in the Hutt, and the taking of market garden lands; (2) consider the report of representative growers who visited Kuku to inspect the land over which a proclamation was placed for the purpose of small farms for market gardening; (3) discuss the statement of the Prime Minister on these matters. The association asked that the council’s representative be prepared to discuss an alternative housing scheme to tho Hutt and the decentralization of industry.
Cr. W. Appleton agreed to attend the meeting.
