“FUNZ-A-POPPIN’ ”

Many Bright Sketches

“Funz-a-Poppln',” presented in the Opera House, Wellington, is a charming American show. Merry sketches alternate with some remarkable individual work, aud there is a nattiness and skill about, the 12 I.'areing Debutantes. Harry Ross and Eddie Edwards are comedians whose wit is aided by the most ludicrous facial expressions. “Bozo” Snyder is a humorist in his own class. The dainty Van Twins dunce divinely, sing n little, and altogether do some very clever und refined work. Loretta Grey, with an unending repertoire of lively songs, is by turns comedienne and bully boy, and goes down well in either role. Jack Bickle's eccentric dancing is excellent. Elsa Lang delights with every appearance in song, and Murray Green helps her along. One of the best things in a good show is the foot and hand balancing of the Carr brothers, whose stamina and incredible acrobatic positions are amazing. Those who have never seen how puppets are worked should see Salici's Parisian Puppets, that put on a show in themselves. The timing of tiie music with the pup;>ets’ movements is one of the mysteries. The “Peace Conference,” with Russia in charge, is one of tho most laughable of tho many bright sketches.
