THEFTS IN KARORI

Confectionery Van Broken Into /.' ■ / During the past three weekends a large van containing confectionery, housed in the garage of Mr. F. G. Hood, 23 Marsden Avenue, Karori, of F. G. Hood and Co., Ltd., wholesale confectioners. ■ Wellington, has been broken into and goods removed. The matter was placed in the bands of the police, and it. is understood they have made arrests.

Following the initial thefts the precaution of keeping a look-out each weekend was taken, persons sitting up till tin early hour in the morning. Whether the thieves were aware of this cannot be ascertained, but the thefts went on after the look-outs were withdrawn. It is understood that the arrests were the result of other methods of investigation.

The thieves broke the lock on the garage, and in thp van. on each occasion. The total value of the goods taken amounted to about £2O.
