AUSTRALIA STANDS WITH BRITAIN

Mr. Menzies’s Declaration

(Received July 2, 10 p.m.)

SYDNEY, July 2.

“I do not hesitate to say that in pursuance of its international policy Australia stands with Britain, and if the pursuance of that policy means trouble, or even if it means war, there need be no doubt that those troubles and the endurance of Britain’s trials will be shared by Australia,” declared the Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, in a public speech. He added, that he had considerable faith in the Scottish proverb, “Creaking doors hang a long time,” and it was his belief that the creaking doors of the world would keep hanging a long time.
