GAME OF BOWLS

Victoria Club\ Meeting Fifty members attended the 42nd annual meeting of the Victoria Bowling Club on Wednesday night. Mr. Colin Campbell was elected a life member of the club, and members -expressed their appreciation of his valuable services to the club. iMr. Campbell presented Sir Charles Norwood with a framed- photograph taken during the visit of the Queensland bowlers to iPaekakariki last season. Sir Charles -Norwood presented to the club, on behalf of the donors, a handsome cabinet in which to exhibit the badges of clubs which have visited the green.The green superintendent reported that the green gave .promise of -being in excellent condition for the coming season. The election of officers resulted as follows (President, 'Mr. T. Forsyth; hon. secretary, Mr. A. McLaren; hon. treasurer Mr. J. H. Hamilton; hon. auditor, Mr. J. A. Hunt; committee, Messrs. R. W. Burbidge, L. Smith, W. J. Ross, D. Parnell, M. G. Phelan, S. Ingram, and C.. Campbell (ex officio) ; delegate to the centre, Mr. 8. Ingram. NEWTOWN CLUB Business connected with the two new rinks which have been formed at the green of the Newtown Bowling Club, and which will be ready for play I early m the new year, was transacted at the annual meeting of the Newtown Bowling Club on Wednesday night. Members who had assisted in this work and in other activities of the club were thanked. Officers were elected as follows: —r President, Mr. W. Denby; vice-presi-dent, Mr. J. R. Cunningliame; hon. secretary, Mr. C. W. Barker; hon. treasurer, Mr. B. A. Guise; management committee, Messrs. F. W. Chambers, E. Dale, G. F. Aers G. Inniss, J. A. McCrea, G. D. Stewart, G. B. Waldon, H. Welton, and C. Wilson. THORNDON CLUB ELECTS \ OFFICERS The annual general meeting of the Thorndon Bowling Club was held last week, about 70 members attending, lue officers for the centennial year (when the Dominion tournament will be held at Wellington) are as follows President, Mr H. J. Wynne!; hon. treasurer. Mr. A. R. Porteous; hon. secretary, Mr. J. M. McLean; hon. auditor, Mr. A. V. Allen ; committee, Messrs. M. J. Casey (who is also Dominion president), J. M. Gibson, Geo. Johnson, A. J. H. Nancarrow, J. E. Perry, and F. J. White. Mr. Johnson was also appointed Sole selector. The green promises to be in excellent condition for the important matches next summer. Mr IL Buxton, a very old member or the club, was elected a life member. Members praised the work of Mr. A. H. de Tourettes,, who resigned from the position of hon. secretary after having held that office for 14 years. HATAITAI CLUB BANS PLAY ON SUNDAY The Hataitai Bowling Club at its annual meeting last week again decided to ban play on its green on Sunday. The president, Mr. W. E. Moult, presided over a large attendance of members. The annual report and statement of accounts were discussed and adopted and the following officers were elected for the coining year: President, Mr. John Carswell ; vice-president, Mr. J. C. Riddell; hon. secretary. Mr. W. R. Jourdain; hon. treasurer, Mr. B. T. Martin (for the twelfth year) ; committee, Messrs. J. Bell, J. Kershaw, R. A. Chisholm, B. Ginger, W. E. Moult and F. W. Reed; match committee, Messrs. H. W. Allan, W. E. Cathie and W. E. Moult; green superintendent, Mr.. James Bell; hon. auditor, Mr. W. E. Southwick; delegate to centre, Mr. James Kershaw; publicity officer, Mr. 11. W. Allan; hon. solicitor, Mr. W. A. On behalf of the centre, a gold medal was. presented to Mr. P. McWhitnneli for I having won five centre competitions, while Mr. R. A. Cometti was presented with a bur to bis gold medal for bis success in having won 10 centre competitions.
