2000 Cease Work

SYDNEY, June 30.

General disappointment prevails among coalminers with the new awmrd, resulting in 2000 of the northern district, miners throwing the four main pits idle today. The unions are endeavouring to induce the men to return to work on Monday .(lending an investjgation into the position. It is expected the price of coal will be increased two or three shillings a ton when the award becomes operative on August 16. (Earlier messages on page 11.)
