JAIL SENTENCE IMPOSED
"In 1935 this man violently assaulted his mother-in-law, who io an old woman over 70 years of age.” said Sub-Inspector I). J. O’Neill .when James Hopkins, clerk, 49, was charged in the Magistrates Court, Wellington, yesterday with being drunk and disorderly, with being unlawfully on enclosed premises, and with assault. Evidence was given that Hopkins, who is divorced from his wife, went to the Hat where she is living with her mother, and grasped her by the wrist. He left when told. . , , . On the charge of being drunk he was convicted and discharged, and on eaeh of the other charges he was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment witji hard labour, the terms to be cumulative.
